  • Farmers Market Presence Discussion
    • What is our purpose and intent at having a Farmer’s Market presence?
      • Continue our slow corruption of the community
      • To advertise the WCMNCN, let people know we exist
      • We want more people involved so that we have more hands (to take action), more minds (to share ideas), and more neighbors (to be friends with).
      • Putting human faces to the WCMNCN, legitimizes the WCMNCN
      • There is value simply in having a public presence of people who care about the environment and sustainability.
      • To have conversation
      • “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go further, go together.”
      • It allows other people who might not be thinking about these topics, to start thinking about these topics. Exposure to people who are thinking about these topics, helps remind people that they DO care about these things and they WANT to take action.
    • What are some ways to start the conversation? What are some topics we can bring up? What are some action items?
      • Framing it about meeting people, learning about them, understanding what they care about.
      • We start conversations with questions, we want them to talk more than we do, questions on questions on questions.
      • Our mission statement is a good reminder and prompt to ourselves, : to promote individual and group action toward a resilient, equitable and sustainable community through modelling behavioural change, conversation and education.
      • We want to hear from more people in our community about how we can make a resilient community together.
      • A list of questions! A prompt inviting people to share who they are, a paper for doodling and writing answers on, a weekly question and conversation prompt,
      • Topic ideas: Organics Program, WCMNCN calendar (the web of stuff), resilient lawncare (lawns to legumes), food security projects, community garden, tree inventory and work, water quality, solar panels, we are a conduit to other peoples ideas, pomme de terre foods, newsletter
      • Having a notes page or a notebook in the bucket to take notes and write down ideas. Having a sign up sheet for people to get on the list. Name tags. Sunscreen!
      • Tables are boring, we need something there that draws people in.
    • How often should we be there? What should be our activities or topics whilst there?
      • Syd will put together the beginning logistics! She will send out an email post farmers market pre-season meeting.
    • What are we hoping to come away with from the Farmer’s Market?
