The City of Morris is seeking volunteers to become Tree Stewards to occasionally help plant trees in parks and boulevards and assist with mulching, simple pruning, and other tree care.
A free training session will be held Saturday, September 18th, from 8:30am to 2:30pm at the Morris Community Center at 603 Oregon Avenue. (See attached flyer.)
Morris has a beautiful tree canopy and we want to keep it healthy and thriving. We’re recruiting volunteers who can help the Tree Board with simple tasks so the City crew can focus on things that require greater expertise and equipment.
The Tree Stewards training will also be helpful for anyone who wants to learn to care for their own trees.
The training will be led by staff from the University of Minnesota’s Department of Forest Resources in St. Paul.
Indoor and outdoor sessions will include tree selection, planting, mulching, staking, pruning, monitoring tree health, and more.
For those who attended three years ago (see the flyer above for photos) – this will be a great refresher with updated information.
Lunch and snacks will be provided. (There will even be door prizes!)
