Climate Change, Choral-Style (March 7)!

Bradley Miller & UMM have commissioned a stunning new work that will be receiving its world premiere this Saturday in Morris. The piece is a tribute to Rachel Carson. Each movement tells the story of a different creature whose habitat is facing destruction, ending with a dancing girl and asking whether we will leave her a silent spring.

There’s lots of other delicious stuff on the program, so I hope some of you can make it!

The Morris Concert Choir presents its 2020 tour program before departing for a nine-day performance tour of Peru. The concert includes traditional Peruvian choral works, as well as pieces by Michael McGlynn, Hans Hassler, Moira Smiley, Ysaye Barnwell, and René Clausen. The choir will also premiere a new piece, Primavera in Silencio, by Joshua Shank. This evocative, seven-movement piece is focused on environmental stewardship.

Tickets: Adults $5 / Seniors $3 / Students and Children $1

Oh, and I want to add that the composer and poet will both be here in person in Morris for a pre-concert talk at 6:45 PM, which is sure to address climate issues!
